West Texas Angel

Now there's something I'd like to say
My story it might ring true
Seven years I can't forget that day
'Cos no one knows, I'm one of few.
It was way back at the century turn
When we crossed those ol' state lines
I shed tears and promised I'd return
To the angel I left behind
Do you remember Tucson to El Paso?
Through the back street bars out to the Brazos?
West Texas angel wasn't just a name
I see her dancing in my picture frame.
The wind whips through the western plains
And the moon shines on my door
I long to swallow my pride and pain
For an angel I once fell for.
Do you remember Tucson to El Paso?
From the back street bars out to the Brazos?
West Texas angel wasn't just a name
I see her dancing in my picture frame.
Now there's something I'd like to say
My story it might ring true
All these years i've crossed the lands
I'm still searching for my angel.
Do you remember Tucson to El Paso?
Out from the back street bars out to the Brazos?
West Texas angel wasn't just a name
I see her dancing in my picture frame.
Do you remember Tucson to El Paso?
Out from the back street bars out to the Brazos?
West Texas angel wasn't just a name
I see her dancing in my picture frame.
West Texas angel wasn't just a name
I see her dancing in my picture frame.

Old Bones

This is a story that's partly truth, and partly fiction
Like all good stories should go I'd surmise
It's about old dogs, animal or otherwise.
About a life well lived now you've turned 33
And being the person you really always ought to be.
Life's a funny thing, it's gonna be a bitch sometimes
But you don't need to be in a good place to find a rhyme
And if the tunnel once of light it now shines starless
Well it's better than fighting through the darkness.
It needs some fixing up they said, but it's got good bones
Yet good bones'll eventually become old bones
And you can't teach an old dog new tricks.
In time you find you can't rely on the kindness of perfect strangers
To be the man you should've been.
Life's a funny thing, it's gonna be a bitch sometimes
But you don't need to be in a good place to find a rhyme
And if the tunnel once of light it now shines starless
Well it's better than fighting through the darkness.
Life's a funny thing, it's gonna be a bitch sometimes
But you don't need to be in a good place to find a rhyme
And if the tunnel once of light it now shines starless
Well it's better than fighting through the darkness.
